Your food diary, in two taps.
Photograph your plate, scan a barcode or just say what you ate. Mealjot fills in the numbers from the Dutch food composition database, knows the menus around you, and shares your days with your coach if you want it to.

What it does
Everything you ate, without the fuss.
A photo or a few words
Photograph your plate or type what you ate. The AI suggests a portion per food; you confirm before anything goes into your diary.
Scan and search
Barcodes from Open Food Facts, labels from a photo, and the RIVM's NEVO table in household measures.
Menus around you
Restaurants, snack bars and supermarkets nearby, with their menus and products ready before you search.
Eetscore and insights
Your Eetscore, protein, fibre and water, and what to change, in plain words.
Your coach, in the app
Share your days with a trainer or dietitian you choose, and message each other.
Reminders and streaks
A nudge at mealtimes, streaks and badges. On your home screen, and it opens without a connection too.

For trainers, coaches and dietitians
See how your clients are really doing.
Clients share their diary with you using your invite code. You see every day as they log it, and can answer on the spot.
- All your clients at a glance: who logged today, streaks, last week's calories and their weight.
- Each client's day, trends, nutrients and progress — including when they ate and when they logged it.
- Messages both ways, notes on a day, and suggested targets your client takes over with one tap.
- When you ask, the AI drafts a note or a weekly summary from the numbers; you edit and send.
- A public profile, so people nearby find you and can ask to join.
- Invite with a link or a QR code, and a welcome message every new client gets as a first note.
- A PDF report, Excel or Eetmeter XML of a client’s food, for any period.
- On a big screen the list and a client side by side: go through your clients with “Next”, and see who already got a note from you today.
- On Mondays a summary: how many of your clients logged last week.

Free to start. Your data stays yours.
- No ads, nothing sold.
- Your diary stays on your phone unless you choose to sync it.
- With an account only the coaches you invite see your logs; stop sharing any time.
- Export or erase everything, whenever you like.
Mealjot
How it works, in detail
The Dutch food composition database
The foundation is NEVO-online 2025/9.0, the food composition database the RIVM publishes: 2,328 foods as they are sold and eaten here. You log in household measures — a slice, a tablespoon, a glass — and the app works out the grams.
Packaged products join by barcode, from Open Food Facts. Every nutrient value names its source.
- Photograph your plate or describe what you ate — the AI suggests each food and portion, you confirm every item
- Barcode scanning (Open Food Facts) and nutrition labels read from a photo
- NEVO 2025/9.0 from the RIVM: 2,328 foods, in household measures
- Menus and products of the restaurants, snack bars and supermarkets around you
- Energy, macros, fibre, salt and water against targets from your own profile
- Eetscore: the Dutch Healthy Diet index 2015
- Share your days with a coach or dietitian you invite, and message each other
- For coaches: every client's days, trends and progress, with notes and messages
- Reminders, streaks and badges; on your home screen and opens without a connection
- Free to start; export or erase everything whenever you like

Photograph, scan, describe
Photograph your plate and an AI model reads what is on it; the same for the nutrition table on a package. Or type what you ate, in your own words.
And then the part that matters: you confirm every item before anything is written to your diary. What the AI returns is a proposal per food and portion; you adjust it, pick something else, or throw the line away.
Food around you
With location on you see the restaurants, snack bars and supermarkets nearby, with their menus and products on top. Your exact spot stays on your phone: only a rounded area is used to look places up.
With your coach
A trainer, coach or dietitian gives you an invite code. With it you share your diary, weight and targets with them, and you can message each other in the app. You can stop sharing any time; with no coach left, the shared copy is deleted.
Coaches see all their clients on one screen and can publish a public profile, so people nearby find them.
Free to start, and your data is yours
Mealjot is free to start, without advertising, and nothing is resold. You need a free account; your diary stays on your phone unless you choose to keep your phones in step. Mealjot Plus adds many more AI reads and the AI coach; Coach Pro gives coaches room for every client.
Put it on your home screen and it behaves like an app: its own icon, no address bar, and it opens with no connection.
What is not there yet
Papiamentu is only partly translated. Anything missing shows in Dutch; we do not invent a translation to fill a screen.
The free plan has a few AI reads a day; Mealjot Plus has many more. When they run out, describing what you ate still works, from the food table on your phone.
There is no link to Apple Health, Google Fit or a scale yet.
